FOOTBALL: Delroy Facey implicated in match-fixing, arrested among six

Published:Tuesday | December 3, 2013 | 8:37 AM

British-Grenadian professional footballer Delroy Facey is among six persons arrested on suspicion of fixing English Football Games.

Facey, who has been representing Grenada in regional and international matches in recent years, has been named as a member of a suspected betting syndicate.

The player-turned agent and members of his group, which included at least three footballers, were picked up when Officers from the National Crime Agency swooped down on them.

The operation took place after police were tipped off about an Asian betting syndicate attempting to target games across Britain.

None of the games are believed to involve teams playing in the two most senior leagues, the Premier League or the Championship.

Facey was born in the UK to a Jamaican mother and a Grenadian Father.
