LIAT anticipating a smooth Christmas peak season

Published:Tuesday | December 3, 2013 | 8:40 AM

The regional airline (LIAT) is seeking to assure travellers that it is working to prevent interruptions in their journey over the Christmas holidays.

The financially strapped airline had blamed the re-fleeting exercise for the interruptions in the summer.

However, it says even as its fleet modernisation efforts are continuing the airline is in a better position to stabilise the schedule during the Christmas peak.

Acting Chief Executive Officer Julie Reifer-Jones says the airline is determined to get all of its passengers to their destinations as quickly as possible over the holiday season.

She said with the Christmas holidays approaching, LIAT is placing an embargo on excess baggage from December 3, 2013 to January 14, 2014.

She said that in order to make flying as easy as possible, passengers should adhere to LIAT’s baggage limits.
