Beware of fraudsters using BOJ's name

The Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) is advising that persons have been using its name and the name of its officers to defraud unsuspecting individuals of sums of money.

The BOJ is reminding the public that, the Central Bank, does not undertake commercial transactions on behalf of individuals or companies.

It further says, it would not be in possession of prize monies or any other funds said to be due to individuals as proceeds of lotteries or any other schemes.

The BOJ also says it does not hold funds on behalf of private individuals or companies for such purposes.

The public is being advised to be wary of all efforts to defraud; and to report instances to the police for investigation and prosecution.
