Mayor of May Pen, Scean Barnswell, says the Clarendon Parish Council will exercise a zero tolerance approach to illegal vending in town centres during the Christmas season.

In an interview with our news centre Mayor Barnswell warned vendors to avoid overrunning May Pen or the other major town centres in Clarendon as the authorities will be out to maintain order.

However, he says to help ease shopping activities during grand market day, Brooks Avenue to the Burger King will be blocked off to allow for vending.

Mayor Barnswell adds that vehicular traffic coming into May Pen will be re-routed to the Council's transportation park adjacent the tax office.

He was quick to point-out that the concession will end the following day and the normal running of the parish will resume.
