VYBZ KARTEL TRIAL: Trial continues today without jury

Published:Friday | December 6, 2013 | 8:30 AM

The Vybz Kartel murder trial continues today but the jurors, spectators and members of the media will not be allowed inside the court room.

The hearing was closed to the public yesterday because of what has been described as the sensitive nature of the evidence being tendered by cybercrimes expert Detective Sergeant Patrick Linton.

Yesterday, lead prosecutor Jeremy Taylor applied to the court for the policeman’s testimony to be given in camera.

Taylor told the court that the high-tech crime expert will be alluding to technologies that were being used in current investigations.

In 2011, the detective was the head of the Police Forensic and Cybercrimes Unit at the Organised Crime Investigation Division.

The jurors have been asked to return on Monday because the hearing is taking place in their absence.

Kartel is jointly charged with fellow entertainer Shawn Campbell also known as Shawn Storm, Kahira Jones, Shane Williams and Andre St John for the August 16, 2011 murder of Clive 'Lizard' Williams.

Williams was allegedly killed over two missing guns.
