Tanker drivers still on strike

Published:Friday | December 13, 2013 | 9:53 AM

There are long lines at some gas stations across the Corporate Area as tanker drivers continue their strike action.

The drivers withdrew their service yesterday to press for an increase in haulage rates.

They also want health benefits and a pension scheme.

However, the contractors say they cannot grant any increase until they receive an adjustment in the rates paid by the marketing companies.

Contractors met with marketing companies yesterday at the Ministry of Energy to discuss the matter.

The meeting lasted well into last night.
