Kingsley Thomas appointed NWC president

The water ministry has announced the appointment of Kingsley Thomas as the new president of the National Water Commission (NWC).



He will take up the position on January 2, 2014.



Water Minister Robert Pickersgill says Thomas was selected as President by the NWC’s Board of Commissioners, from a total of 17 applicants.



Thomas was Managing Director for the Development Bank of Jamaica for more than 16 years and was General Manager for the Dominica Agricultural, Industrial and Development Bank for the last five years.



He served on the boards of directors of several entities including the Bank of Jamaica and the National Housing Trust where he was the Chairman for approximately 14 years.



Thomas also initiated and spearheaded the establishment of the Tourism Enhancement Fund and conceptualised, developed, administered and implemented Highway 2000.



He also conceptualised and spearheaded the development of the proposed Harmony Cove Resort in Trelawny as well as Emancipation Park in New Kingston.
