Driver's licence printing stalled

Published:Tuesday | December 17, 2013 | 6:21 PM

Delays by an overseas supplier is preventing the printing of new drivers' licences.

Director of Communications at Tax Administration Jamaica Meris Haughton says there is a shortage of the material used to print drivers' licences as a result of the delays.

She points out that Jamaica procures the material used to print driver’s licence from overseas for security reasons.

Haughton says a new batch of the material is expected by Friday.

She says in the interim drivers are being allowed to use their expired licenses but this must be accompanied by a receipt showing that the required fees have been paid for a renewal.
