A man remains in custody following the seizure of 250 pounds of ganja on the Tollgate main road in Clarendon.

The police say the drug has a street value of $1.25 million.

Investigators say on Monday afternoon a police team was conducting spot checks when the driver of a motor car was signaled to stop.

They say the vehicle was searched and the drugs discovered.

The man, whose identity is being withheld, was taken into custody.

Meanwhile, the Police in St Elizabeth have also made a drug bust.

Reports from the Black River Police are that on Tuesday night a team of police personnel were on an operation in Knoxwood, Lacovia when they came across eight plastic bags hidden in bushes.

The bags reportedly contained 103 pounds of ganja.

According to the police, the drug would have fetched $515,000 had it been sold on the nation’s streets.

No one was arrested in connection with the find.
