Jesse Ryder has been named in New Zealand squad for the One Day International Series against the West Indies starting on Boxing Day, December 26 in Auckland.

The 29-year-old last played for his country in February 2012 against South Africa and has slowly returned to cricket after being viciously attacked in Christchurch in March.

Ryder’s return to domestic cricket for his new side the Otago Volts has been with much success. In four Plunket Shield matches he has scored two centuries and two half centuries.

Ryder has played 39 One Day International matches for New Zealand and has a strike rate of 89.72.
