14 charged following anti-lottery scam raids
The police have charged 14 of the 16 persons who were taken into custody during a series of anti-lottery raids last week.
The accused have been charged with breaches of the Law Reform (Fraudulent Transaction) (Special Provisions) Act and the Dangerous Drugs Act.
Police detectives say investigations are to continue into the two remaining detainees.
The raids were led by the Anti-Lottery Scam Task Force along with police personnel throughout the Area One Police.
The operation was carried out over three days and across sections of St James, Westmoreland and Trelawny.
Investigators say they seized nearly 300 lead lists which comprise the personal details of prospective scam victim.
The lists were found at a house in West Gate Hill, Montego Bay.
The police say this was the largest number of lead lists found in a single location since the crackdown on the lottery scam began more than a year ago.
