Robust tourism projection for 2014

KINGSTON, Jamaica:
Jamaica’s tourism officials are projecting robust growth in the sector for 2014 with increased airlift and stop over arrivals expected to begin early in the year.
According to Jamaica's Director of Tourism, John Lynch the UK market had bounced back, with British Airways scheduled to introduce a fourth flight next year.
TUI is to add a sixth flight complementing its recently announced summer flights to serve its cruise ship which will homeport in Montego Bay.
Lynch also said the current winter tourist season looks very promising compared with the last one which recorded a two to three per cent decline.
According to the Tourism Director, the USA supplies 86 per cent of the stop-over arrivals to Jamaica.
Tourism Minister, Dr Wykeham McNeill says Jamaica is on an aggressive programme in the USA and Canada to sustain the visitor numbers.
Yesterday, Jamaica welcomed its two millionth visitor in a year for the first time ever.
