CRICKET: Odean Brown out of Regional Super50 tournament
A knee injury has ruled leg-spinner Odean Brown out of Jamaica’s squad for the upcoming regional Super50 tournament.
The 31-year-old has been advised to have surgery to correct the knee problem.
The surgery is expected to rule him out for up to six week.
The injury occurred during a recent training session with the national Super50 and four-day training squad at Sabina Park.
Brown has represented Jamaica in 62 first-class matches, has taken 240 wickets at an average of 22.28.
The Super 50 will be played in Trinidad for the next three years.
The 2014 event will feature eight teams – Barbados, Combined Campuses & Colleges, Guyana, Jamaica, Leeward Islands, Trinidad and Tobago, Windward Islands, and Ireland.
The tournament will be televised live throughout the Caribbean on ESPN and matches will be played from January 30 to February 16, with day/night fixtures.
Windward Islands are the defending champions after defeating Combined Campuses and Colleges by nine wickets in the finals at Kensington Over in Barbados earlier this year.
