KINGSTON, Jamaica:

The Jamaica Gasolene Retailers Association (JGRA) is making a last ditch effort to save three Texaco gas station dealers who are set to be out of business.

Today is the deadline for the three dealers to vacate the premises from which they operate.

JGRA president Derrick Thompson says the association’s attorney has been in contact with GB Energy, the local operator of the Texaco brand in Jamaica, to get an extension of the deadline.

GB Energy has not renewed the lease agreement for the three dealers and has given them notice to vacate.

Thompson says these dealers have been doing good business with Texaco over the years and desire better treatment.

He maintains that the dealers should be compensated.

The JGRA president says if there is no positive outcome by the end of the day, then the association will have to decide on its next course of action.
