Gridlock as thousands head to Shaggy and Friends

Motorists were in for lengthy delays as thousands of people head to the Jamaica House lawns for the charity concert Shaggy & Friends.

Traffic police have been placed at strategic points on Waterloo Road, Hope Road and West King's House Road to direct motorists.

However, the overwhelming number of vehicles enroute to the show has diminished their efforts.

At the start of the show at 8.30 p.m. Shaggy, who was the first performer on stage told the packed venue that the number of patrons had doubled this year.

He said, usually around 5,000 people attend the show, but this year some 10,000 people were attending.

All proceeds from the venue will go towards the Bustamante Hospital for Children, Jamaica's lone children's health facility.
