KINGSTON, Jamaica:

There is still uncertainty whether Texaco gas station dealers will end their strike action.

Dealers are at this hour meeting to discuss commitments given at a meeting earlier this afternoon by GB Energy, the operator of the Texaco brand in Jamaica.

According to President of the Gasolene Retailers Association Derrick Thompson, the company has agreed to make compensatory payments to the three dealers who are at the centre of the dispute.

Thompson further says Texaco has committed to bringing forward the renewal deadline for contracts.

And he says the parties have also agreed to a discussion framework going forward.

The JGRA President says another meeting is to be held later this week to resolve other matters.

Today’s meeting was called by Texaco in a bid to end the strike action by dealers.

The dealers have been off the job since yesterday.
