The Meteorological Service is advising that the unstable weather conditions currently affecting the country are expected to continue today.

A Flash flood watch remains in effect for low lying and flood prone areas of Eastern and Central parishes until 5 p.m. this afternoon.

A flash flood watch means flash flooding is possible and residents are being advised to check precautionary measures, and be ready for quick action if flooding is observed or if a warning is issued.

Forecasters said, strong upper level winds have persisted across the central Caribbean, including Jamaica.

The Met Office reported that while there has been some decrease in shower activity overnight, the island is likely to experience moderate to heavy showers mainly over eastern parishes, this afternoon into tonight.

Flash flooding is likely to affect low lying and flood prone areas, as the strong winds persist across the region.
