Three cops, two civilians arrested in drug case

Three police personnel are among five people arrested on reasonable suspicion of breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

The other two people are civilians.

It is reported that on Monday, December 23 a man who was arrested with a substance suspected to be cocaine, offered the cops a sum of money.

A plot was reportedly developed to switch the drugs with another substance, in order to exchange the banned substance for money.

The plot was reported to the Anti-Corruption Branch and an investigation launched.

The role of the second civilian has not been detailed.

The police say the suspects are currently in custody and a file is being prepared, which will be submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions for a ruling.
