TENNIS: Murray set for 'fiercely' hot return in Melbourne

Andy Murray is expected to face fierce heat when he returns to Grand Slam action against Japan's Go Soeda at the Australian Open tomorrow.

The temperature is predicted to hit 40 degree Celsius in Melbourne, with Murray and Soeda scheduled on Hisense Arena not before 6 o’clock in the afternoon.

Murray has played just three exhibitions and two ATP Tour matches since recovering from back surgery.

Murray might avoid the worst of the conditions tomorrow as he is not due on court until 5 o’clock in the afternoon.

As a three-time finalist he has experienced the severe heat before, and he spends much of his time away from competition training in Miami, but Melbourne poses a sterner test.
