KINGSTON, Jamaica:

The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) says it has resolved 30 of 32 claims that were made against it arising from a crash on October 2010 in St Ann in which several passengers were injured.

The company says its attorneys, Dabdoub Dabdoub & Company, successfully brokered a settlement agreement with the claimants’ lawyers to settle 30 of the claims.

It said the JUTC had made an offer on November 27 last year to liquidate the settlement by way of five instalments ending on or before March 31, 2014.

It says the claimants’ attorneys Kinghorn and Kinghorn, indicated their clients’ agreement to accept the settlement which the JUTC had proposed from last year.

In a settlement deal last year the JUTC agreed to pay more than $106 million to 30 of the 32 claimants.
