NETBALL: Sunshine Girls secure easy warm up victory ahead of tri-nation series

Jamaica secured an impressive warm up victory against Wales ahead of the tri-nation netball series in England.

Jamaica, ranked fourth in the world beat eighth ranked Wales 60-26.

Top shooter Jhaneile Fowler led the way with 27 goals from 29 attempts, while Sabrina Spence had 13 from 14, Shanice Beckford 6 from 7 and Thristina Harwood 4 from 10.

The tri-nation series comprises Jamaica, England and New Zealand.

The series begins tomorrow at the Wembley Stadium in London with Jamaica facing New Zealand.

Jamaica will also play England on January 18 and 21.

Five members of the national Under-21 netball squad are included in the senior team.

The young players named in the 12-member squad are – Harwood, Beckford, Vangelee Williams, Stacey-Ann Facey and Khadijah Williams.

The Sunshine Girls are using the series as prep for the Commonwealth Games in Scotland in July.
