KINGSTON, Jamaica:

A man is now in police custody and another in hospital following a shootout in the vicinity of the Calabar Mews housing Complex in St Andrew shortly before 3 0’ clock yesterday afternoon.

It is reported that men travelling in a white Coaster bus, who were being chased by the police, made a final stop at the location.

Reports indicate that the men had hijacked the Coaster bus in the Hagley Park road area and the police were alerted and a chase ensued.

It is believed that the bus had a tracking device as a private security team was also quickly on the scene.

Officers on the ground told our news team that both the St Andrew Central and St Andrew North police division responded to the robbery.

One of the men who hijacked the bus was reportedly shot and injured during the shootout and the other captured.

One of the investigating officers says the injured man was taken to hospital while the other was taken to the Half-Way Tree police station.
