Major ganja find in The Bahamas

Published:Monday | January 20, 2014 | 7:51 AM

The Bahamas police say they have detained several people in connection with last week's seizure of more than 40 bales of marijuana.

The police on the island of Andros did not give an estimate of what they described as a major drug haul.

However, they say members of the Drug Enforcement Unit, acting on information, went to a hotel and arrested two men.

A woman was later detained at another location.

The police said further arrests are likely as the investigations continue.

Meanwhile, police on the island of Exuma, have uncovered five and a half pounds of marijuana in Farmer’s Cay, following a tip off.

They said no arrests were made in connection with that find.
