KINGSTON, Jamaica:

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is now probing a case of mistaken identity, after a cook shop vendor was killed by the police yesterday afternoon.

Twenty-seven year-old Robert Jackson, otherwise known as Nakia was shot and killed in his cook shop in Orange Villa, Kingston sometime after midday.

A relative of the deceased alleges that the police were chasing a Rastafarian man and encountered Jackson who is also dreadlocked and opened fire on him.

He also alleges that the man was dragged out of the establishment by the police.

The incident subsequently sparked protest from several residents of the area who demanded justice.

Superintendent of Police Victor Hamilton confirmed that Jackson was killed by police but had no further comments on the incident.
