Finance Minister to table supplementary budget on February 25
Finance Minister Dr Peter Phillips is to table a supplementary budget on February 25 after which he will lead the House of Representatives into a debate on its contents on March 6.
Already, the parliamentary opposition, through the Leader of Opposition Business, Derrick Smith, has indicated it will be vigorously participating in the debate.
A supplementary debate is required whenever there are variations to the Estimates of Expenditure tabled at the start of the fiscal year.
The parliament passed a $520.9 billion budget to carry out the country's affairs for the 2013-2014 fiscal year.
The House yesterday gave approval for the establishment of a Tax Measures committee to be chaired by Phillips.
Paulwell, the Leader of Government Business in the House, said the report of the tax measures committee will be tabled along with the supplementary estimates.
Both documents will be examined by the Public Administration and Appropriations Committee on February 27 with a report to be sent to the full House by March 4.
