15-y-o mother murdered in T&T, pushes homicide tally to 40

Trinidad and Tobago has recorded its 40th murder since the start of the year.



Trinidadian police say a 15-year-old mother of one was shot and killed during a drive-by shooting in Belmont, on the outskirts of the capital on Tuesday night.



They say Alleya Canes, who was in the company of the father of her child, was shot in the chest by an unknown gunman.



The man was not harmed.



Canes died while undergoing surgery at the Port of Spain General Hospital.
