Tension heightens among west Kingston residents

Published:Saturday | January 25, 2014 | 8:15 AM

The police say their intelligence is indicating a heightened level of tension in communities in west Kingston after residents expressed frustration at the actions of gangsters.

The police are reassuring residents that they will continue their unrelenting efforts in protecting law-abiding citizens.

They say they will pursue criminals and gang members who seek to exercise power over citizens, preventing them from operating within their lawful remits.

Head of the Kingston Western Division, Senior Superintendent of Police Steve McGregor says under his leadership the police stand resolute that criminals and gangsters will not prevail.

The police have reportedly increased operations in the area and are appealing for the patience and support of citizens.

Meanwhile, citizens are urged to avoid involvement in gang related and organised criminal activities and to report any information they may have about any crime to the police.
