733 illegal systems disconnected, 18 prosecuted as NWC’s revenue drive continues
As the National Water Commission (NWC), continues its campaign to boost revenue collections, the company is reporting that last month it removed 733 illegal connections to its systems and prosecuted 18 persons.
According to the NWC, one person has since been convicted and fined $25,000 or 30 days in jail.
Since January 1 last year, the NWC says it has removed over 12,500 illegal connections to its systems islandwide and prosecuted 481 persons.
The disconnections, which also target customers with amounts outstanding for more than 30 days, are part of the company’s revenue recovery programme that was implemented to boost collections.
