ST MARY, Jamaica:

The National Works Agency (NWA) says its technical team is working to have the last of twelve roadways in St Mary which were extensively damaged in recent rains reinstated.

Communications and Customer Services manager at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, says the Little Bay to Spring Head roadway remains impassable after being damaged following a collapsed wall.

Shaw says the technical team is now working on a design for the repair of the road.

Shaw says the Jacks River to River Bay main road also requires extensive work as the river has eroded a section of the roadway.

Rains left much of St Mary and Portland flooded two weeks ago, with the St Mary Parish Council estimating damage at $180 million.

However, the works ministry is yet to give a final figure in relation to the damage.
