Minister without portfolio in the ministry of transport, works and housing Dr Morais Guy has confirmed that eight senior personnel have resigned from the Housing Agency of Jamaica last year.

Speaking in Parliament yesterday, Guy said eight members of management resigned since April 2013.

He said one person resigned in May, another in October and six in November.

Guy also confirmed that 44 members of staff have left the Housing Agency, either through resignation or redundancy last year.

However, he explained that several staff members left the organisation following the implementation of a new organisational structure.

Responding to questions from the opposition he said no complaint of political interference in the management of the agency has been reported to him.

He said he will have those claims investigated.

Guy said the government has no intention to wind down the agency.

The agency has reportedly been struggling with $300 million operating deficit.

He said the parliament will soon be advised of the new strategic direction in which the HAJ will be operating.
