KINGSTON, Jamaica:

The Jamaica Urban Transit Company has implemented a fuel management system as the company seeks to stop revenue leakage at the state-run bus company.

Minister with responsibility for the transport Sector Dr Morais Guy revealed in parliament yesterday that as part of the cost-saving measure, the daily allocation of fuel dispensed to each bus has been reduced from 300 to 200 litres.

He says a fuel officer has been recruited to ensure that the procedures are adhered to.

He said the officer will also provide a daily reconciliation of fuel purchased against that which was used.

Guy also disclosed that a loss prevention strategy will be implemented to secure the company’s assets and fare-box revenue.
