JCF rebrands communication unit
The media arm of the police force is to be rebranded the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) Corporate Communication Unit.
The change from the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) will take effect on Saturday.
The JCF says the changes are part of a process of strengthening and improving the communication delivery systems of the organization.
It noted that a review of the CCN revealed the need for a revised organizational structure and strategy to more effectively deliver communications internally and externally.
The JCF announced how the new unit will function in a statement to the media this afternoon.
It says the communication unit will have increased staff along with other functions, to address internal and external communication needs, and to address proactive and reactive communications.
The police say the staffing of the new JCF Corporate Communication Unit will require, among other things, an upgrade of the position of director, and the establishment of sub-units and communications coordinators at the Area and Criminal Investigation Branch headquarters.
The Police High Command said in order to make clear lines of responsibility and accountability, the JCF Corporate Communications Unit will report through the Operations Portfolio.
The high command also says the changes have been endorsed by the Commissioner's Executive Management Board.
