Gas stations refuelling slowly as tanker drivers end strike

KINGSTON, Jamaica:

Gasolene retailers are reporting that the process to have their gas stations refueled has been slow following the return to work by tanker drivers.

The tanker drivers had gone on strike to press for increased wages.

They returned to work this morning after their union signed an agreement with the Petroleum Haulage Contractors Association.

However, the Jamaica Gasolene Retailers’ Association (JGRA) says getting fuel to the various gas stations has been a slow process as most of the 300 dealers had run out of fuel.

JGRA president, Derrick Thompson, says it will take even longer for rural areas to receive gas.
