The Women’s Centre of Jamaica Foundation has received a grant of just under $1 million from the Venezuelan Government.

The grant is in memory of Venezuela’s late former president, Hugo Chavez.

And the Venezuelan Institute, in Kingston, will also provide free Spanish lessons to teenage mothers who are registered with the centre.

The donations were announced during a recent tour of the centre’s head offices in Kingston by minister with responsibility for information, Sandrea Falconer and Venezuelan Ambassador to Jamaica, Jacqueline Mendoza Ortega.
