IMF review team now in Jamaica

Published:Wednesday | February 5, 2014 | 5:13 PM

A team from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is now in the island to assess Jamaica’s performance over the quarter ending December 2013.

This is the third assessment under the four year agreement singed in May last year.

Last week, Finance Minister Dr Peter Phillips said in the Parliament that the Government’s assessment indicates that all quantitative targets and structural benchmarks for the December quarter have been met.

The two previous successful reviews have allowed Jamaica to unlock approximately $270 million in funding from the IMF.

The IMF review mission is scheduled to leave next week Friday.
