The Government has allocated J$32 million for the expansion of the second phase of the Youth Upliftment Through Employment (YUTE) Build Programme.

Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller, who made the announcement Friday, praised the YUTE Build programme as an initiative that will have a ripple effect on the country for generations to come.

YUTE Build is an initiative under the YUTE programme. It seeks to provide training for unattached, at-risk young people in the area of construction, thereby increasing their access to employment.

Simpson Miller says the nation has a duty to ensure that young people are adequately prepared to become employable or create jobs for themselves.

She was speaking at Jamaica House after signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government and the leaders of the private sector-led initiative.
