KINGSTON, Jamaica:

Proceedings against the man accused of murdering eight-year-old Celena Edmond in Top Hill, St Thomas, last Monday have been delayed because there is no attorney to represent him.

The suspect has been in custody in Morant Bay since the day of the incident.

The police say though no other person of interest or suspect is being sought, proceedings against the accused man cannot go ahead until an attorney is found to represent him.

The eight-year-old's body was found in bushes in the community with the hands bound and throat slashed three times.

A post-mortem revealed that she was not raped.
