KINGSTON, Jamaica:

The police have launched an investigation into the shooting death of a vendor at the corner of North Street and Mark Lane, earlier this morning.

The dead man has been identified as 32-year-old Omego Farquharson otherwise known as ‘School Boy’.

Eyewitness reports are that Farquharson was approaching the area when an unknown assailant on a bicycle shot him.

They further say, he was chased and shot again as he tried to escape.

He collapsed and was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A relative of the deceased said she received a call from the hospital saying that he was "shot and killed" but was unable to give a reason as why anyone would want to kill Farquharson.

Investigations continue.
