Licensed firearm holder detained in Pavillion Mall shooting

A licensed firearm holder has reportedly turned himself in to the police in relation to yesterday’s suspected murder of a man who was shot in the vicinity of the Pavillion Mall in Half-Way Tree, St Andrew, yesterday.



The Half-Way Tree Criminal Investigation Branch say the man turned up at the police station about 11 o’clock yesterday morning and reported that he was involved in the shooting.



The police say he has since been detained pending further investigation.



The dead man has been identified as 29-year-old Negus Whyte, otherwise called ‘Kimo’, of Newark Avenue, Kingston 11.



He was killed about 5 o’clock yesterday morning.



Traffic had to be diverted along the busy Constant Spring Road yesterday while police personnel processed the crime scene.
