KINGSTON, Jamaica:

Police personnel in May Pen Clarendon are searching for three gunmen who held up and robbed a jewellery store yesterday afternoon.

The May Pen police say about midday, three men armed with guns robbed the Payless Jewellery Store along Main Street.

The robbers reportedly made off with $500,000, three televisions, jewellery and other small appliances.

Patrons, who were shopping at the store were also robbed of cell phones and cash.

Payless Jewellery, which is run by Indians, is the second expatriate operated business targeted by armed robbers in the May Pen business district since the start of the year.

Last month the Chinese operated Easy Look Variety Store, was robbed of $300,000.
