Reggae Boyz defender Nyron Nosworthy has been spared jail, stemming out of an incident with a cyclist last year.

The 33-year-old Jamaican international, who plays for Watford FC, was sentenced to 42 days imprisonment, suspended for two years, by District Judge Louise Hammonds.

The judge said Nosworthy was reckless but had not intended to injury his victim.

Nosworthy pushed over Joe Minihane after they collided at traffic lights in central London on August 13.

It was reported that Minihane suffered a fractured wrist, which needed a full cast and up to a year of rehab.

The judge also ordered Nosworthy to pay a 3,300-pound compensation to the cyclist.

The judge had threatened to revoke the player's driving licence, but was persuaded not to do so by Nosworthy laywer who said the impact would be huge in terms of his employment.
