Raw sewage overflowing in Ivan Housing Scheme, St Thomas

Raw sewage is said to be overflowing in the Ivan Housing Scheme in Duckenfield St Thomas, posing a serious health risk to residents.

The matter surfaced at the monthly meeting of the St Thomas parish Council yesterday.

Councillor of the Dalvey Division Michael Mcleod has urged the parish council to take immediate steps to assist the residents due to the low water table in the area which could contaminate water sources in the environs.

Also in St Thomas the public health department has now informed the Georgia Basic School administration that the school faces closure because of inadequate water supply.

The council meeting was told that there are adequate sources of water in the area and so the NWC needs to address the matter.
