Counterfeit notes circulating in Ocho Rios

ST ANN, Jamaica:

The Ocho Rios police in St Ann are advising members of the public to be on the lookout for several counterfeit notes believed to be in circulation in the town and other parishes.




According to the Ocho Rios Criminal Investigation Branch, between December last year and January, 11, counterfeit Jamaican $1,000 bills were handed over by the National Commercial Bank in Ocho Rios.



This after after it was detected that the notes were fake.



Members of the public are being urged to beware of persons who may attempt to use these notes to carry out transactions and to make proper checks to ensure that bank notes being collected are legitimate.



Anyone with information that can assist the Police is being asked to contact the Ocho Rios Criminal Investigation Branch at 974-2469, Police 119 emergency number or the nearest Police Station.
