CRICKET: Chris Gayle eyeing quick return to form against Ireland

Published:Tuesday | February 18, 2014 | 8:36 AM

Fit-again Chris Gayle says it is important for him to get back quickly into form during the limited overs series against Ireland which starts tomorrow at Sabina Park in Kingston.

The series is the final for the Caribbean side ahead of the World Twenty20 in Bangladesh next month.

Gayle returned to the West Indies squad for the first time since he suffered a hamstring injury during the One-Day International series in India in November and missed the tour of New Zealand.

Gayle says his fitness level is very high going into the Ireland series.

Jamaican all-rounder Marlon Samuels and captain Darren Sammy have also recovered from injuries for the New Zealand series.

West Indies will host Ireland for two Twenty20s and a One-Day International at Sabina Park.

The first Twenty20 will be played tomorrow.
