No pay cut for Eastern C'bean public servants

Public servants across the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) have been given the assurance that there will be no cuts in their salaries while the governments battle the effects of a current global economic downturn.

This decision came out of last weekend's meeting between sub-regional Public Sector Unions and OECS Heads of Government held in St Kitts.

The meeting was held against the backdrop of concerns about whether the St Lucian government was preparing to lay off approximately 200 public servants by the end of March.

However, in response the government indicated that it had no such plans.
