FOOTBALL: Cavalier meet Humble Lion in Monday Night showdown

Published:Monday | March 3, 2014 | 3:57 PM

Cavalier will be looking to move a step closer to a top five spot when they take the field today in the Monday Night fixture of the 2013-2014 Red Stripe Premier League.

Cavalier, who are in seventh place, have a tricky assignment away to eighth place Humble Lion at the Effortville Community Centre in Clarendon.

The match is scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m.

Cavalier, who enter the game on 28 points, will be hoping for a victory to put them on 31 points with Tivoli Gardens.

However, with Cavalier having an inferior goal difference compared to Tivoli, a victory would put them in sixth spot, but very close to a top five spot.

The unpredictable Humble Lion are on 26 points and will climb ahead of Cavalier by a point should they get the win today.

Meanwhile, bottom place August Town are now unbeaten in their last seven games following a 2-2 result away to Tivoli Gardens yesterday.

In the other game yesterday, Rivoli United and Arnett Gardens battled to a goalless draw at the Bramwell Clarke Sports Complex.

The other two matches yesterday were postponed as a result two-match Caribbean tour by the national team.

Clubs which have at least four players on national duty have the option of having their matches postponed, hence the postponement of the Boys' Town/Harbour View and Waterhouse/Montego Bay United clashes.
