CRICKET: Jamaica preparing for second round in Regional Championship

Jamaica’s cricketers are now preparing for their second round match in the 2014 Regional Four-Day Championship following an easy opening round victory against Guyana at Sabina Park yesterday.

The second round starts on Friday and Jamaica will play away to the Leeward Islands at Warner Park in St Kitts.

Jamaica will enter their second round match with maximum points following the victory against Guyana.

Set a victory target of 88, Jamaica cruised to 89 for three to win shortly after the lunch break.

Final scores in the match – Guyana 117 and 268; Jamaica 294 and 89 for three.

Jamaica’s second round opponents – the Leeward Islands are in an interesting battle with the Combined Campuses and College (CCC) in their first round match at Warner Park.

The CCC team – set a victory target of 262 – enters today’s final day on 110 for four; needing another 152 runs to win.

Scores in that game – the Leewards 164 and 299, CCC 202 and 110 for four.

The other first round game ended inside three days on Sunday as the Windward Islands defeated defending champions Barbados by nine wickets in St Lucia.
