Published:Wednesday | March 12, 2014 | 9:25 AM

Defence attorneys in the corruption trial of former Junior Energy Minister Kern Spencer and his co-accused, Colleen Wright, have filed written no-case submissions seeking to have the case dismissed.

The submissions were delivered to Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey yesterday.

Prosecutors are expected to reply in writing by next Tuesday when the trial is scheduled to resume in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court.

The prosecution closed its case in the five-year-old trial on February 27.

The crown called 20 witnesses and 85 exhibits were admitted into evidence.

Spencer and Wright are on trial for alleged money laundering and illicit enrichment arising from the implementation of the Cuban light bulb programme.
