The attorneys for convicted entertainer Vybz Kartel say the media coverage of the case has defined the future of court reporting in Jamaica.

The father-and-son team of Tom Tavares-Finson and Christian Tavares-Finson believes that sooner rather than later Jamaica will have to follow other countries and allow cameras in court.

Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, and fellow entertainer Shawn Campbell, better known as ‘Sean Storm’, along with two of their co-accused were convicted on Thursday for the murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams in a highly-publicised trial which lasted 65 days.

Tom Tavares-Finson says the extensive media coverage of the trial created a picture for the citizens who were interested and points out that this would help them to better understand how the criminal courts operate.

The veteran attorney praised the media coverage of the case saying they did a remarkable job.
