BOXING: Contender Series continues tonight

The 2014 Wray & Nephew Contender Boxing Series continues tonight at the Chinese Benevolent Association auditorium with another Jamaica, Guyana clash.



Exchanging punches tonight in the made for television boxing series will be Jamaican Richard Holmes and Guyanese Gladwin Dorway.



Holmes appeared in the Contender Series last year as a middleweight and was beaten in the second round by Devon Moncriffe, the eventual winner.



Before the Holmes-Dorway bout, which starts at 9 o’clock in the evening, will be two amateur bouts over three rounds each.



This represents the second week of competition as Jamaica’s Sakima Mullings got his campaign off to a good start with a fourth-round knockout victory over Revlon Lake.



Sixteen welterweight boxers, including eight from other Caribbean countries, are contesting the series.



The boxers are fighting for a top prize of $2 million, with the runner-up earning $500,000, third place $250,000 and fourth $200,000.
